February- Superbowl Sunday
SUPER BOWL SUNDAYThe month of February kicks off with the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3rd in Arizona. This has become a day when many of us have friends and family over to watch the game. When considering a menu for your Super Bowl party, you want to make it simple, but substantial. With pre-game and post-game festivities and everything in between (the game itself), the party will move from the late afternoon to mid evening and you will probably want to serve something more substantial to your guests than just appetizers. That said, you don’t want to be spending all your time in the kitchen, so it works best to develop menu items that can be made ahead of time and served cold or just requiring a brief reheat.I have found that my Pork Tenderloin with Gorganzola Sauce can be prepared well in advance of the party and makes great sandwiches. It can be sliced and served cold on small round bakery style rolls, with the Gorganzola sauce served on the side. This along with American Potato Salad can anchor your menu, adding in appetizers, crudites and other goodies as you like. Of course, what is a party without a great dessert! To finish off the festivities, I would recommend cheesecakes. They are creamy and delicious and can be made well in advance of the party. Mocha Cheesecake, with its hint of Kahlua would be a great choice.
