Closing Out the Year

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner.  If you’re planning on having some guests over to celebrate the New Year, you’ll need some great appetizer recipes.  Here are some of my favorites: 

Tomato, Basil and Fresh Mozzarella Pizza 

These can be made ahead and just popped into the oven for about 25 minutes before serving.  They are easy to make when you use pre-made pizza dough.  Taste so much better than the frozen variety.

Zesty Blue Cheese Dip

This one is easy and can be made a day or two in advance.  Rather than use a bowl for the dip, think about carving out a red cabbage and piling the dip in it.  It makes for an interesting presentation when you pile the crudités around it.

Pan Fried Onion Dip

You’ll find lots of variations on this recipe.  I really like the classic recipe that’s simply onions, cream cheese, sour cream and mayo with a hint of cayenne pepper.
